Dust Suppression Systems using ACT Foam Chemicals

High-pressure (70 bar) systems are used for fugitive (sub PM10) dust; mid-pressure (20-30 Bar) systems mounted on conveyor belts suppress dust at transfer points.

The addition of chemicals minimizes the excessive use of water to improve product flow. Without a well-constructed containment system, high-pressure fog cannot operate efficiently, the fog needs slower velocity air to contain and encapsulate the fugitive dust in the air. Note that high-pressure fog needs to be applied at each transfer or dust generation point so there is little to no residual effect.

The major advantage with the use of fog is that little or no water is added to the product flow as it moves through the system. Operating below 30 bar (450 psi) the system utilizes specially adapted nozzles and supports to concentrate a spray pattern on the belting w/more water in the center where it is needed. Frame adapters mean that the nozzle height & angle can be adapted for each one to ensure the correct application rate. The sys. is highly adaptable, easy to install & operate. Expansion and additions are easy using the special fittings and adapters.

The addition of a Dust Suppression chemical to the system using flow-proportional injectors increases the effectiveness of the water and increases the suppression ability of the water. Alternatively, it can minimize the amount of water used and introduced into the product.

For larger flow systems and those with higher dust problems, foam systems are used to combat dust generation. Chemicals added to the product at the generation point (usually the crusher on a mine application) will encapsulate the dust and entrain it back into the product flow.

As it has a residual effect, it will carry through numerous transfer points before requiring another application.
